Wagon Box Arch

So far the arch awareness has highlighted damage done to the arch itself. Generally by carving or spray paint. But there is also damage done to the landscape around or under the arch.

Pictured here is illegal digging for artifacts. Our collective heritage being stolen by select individuals. It is illegal to steal and dig for artifacts on our public lands. It is the same on private lands without permission and is ethically wrong all around.

Archaeology is performed by professionals. Pictured here is what is known as potholing and is illegal digging by amateurs.

If you come across this in the Daniel Boone National Forest you should contact their archaeologist and report the site so they can investigate.

Due to being located on private property, Wagon Box Arch is not in the public version of the database.
